PERSONAL DESCRIPTION

Josie Chen began her design career in 1994 after returning from Italy, to work at a prestigious Japanese department store in London as a junior stylist, dressing the mannequins with the designs of famous Japanese designers in London’s Piccadilly Circus. Initial studying Japanese and Italian language, she found herself in Japan completing both her BA and MA in fashion and textile design. After spending a number of years in Japan studying and working as an intern for Japanese and American design labels, with an interest and eye for fashion, she have been in involved in projects since 1998, working on commercials, fashion shoots and working for various retail houses.

She is now permanently based in Shanghai where she has set up the Josie Chen range, which at the moment is concentrating mainly on Accessories and bags, which have received warm response in the UK and have also been featured in Italian vogue. She is now concentrating on working on her own clothing collection that will complement the accessories range. She is expected to be exploring different markets and hoping to compete in the world arena presenting to a wider audience especially in Japan and Europe.
