The Collections: Tribal Decadence: Inspired by the rich diversity of Indian tribes, this collection encapsulates their unique style & culture. From colourful & heavily embelished boho chic to tribal warrior, each design takes its influence & name from India's century-old tribal history to deliver colourful & bold statement pieces that are sure to get you noticed. Malika: Timeless designs created to evoke your inner goddess… From adorned immortal goddesses to the bejewelled princesses of the Mughal dynasty, this opulent collection captures the romance & mystic charm of Indian jewellery and its significance from ancient times to present day. Mangalya: A range which transforms the intriguing wedding customs from Sonal's culture into beautifully feminine & modern pieces. The auspicious "Mangala" or Mangalsutra has been translated into beaded necklaces with a prominent pendant. Claspless necklaces from "Mala" reflect the delicate flower garlands draped over the heads of the couple. Jasmina designs celebrate the beauty and prominence of flowers as decoration.

DESCRIPTION:

Eastern Mystic Jewellery, the creation of British born and self taught designer Sonal Talgeri-Bhaskaran, launches 3 new collections for A/W 09 at IJL this year, with her Indian heritage playing a heavy influence in her designs.

Sonal was drawn to making jewellery in 2003 when the pressures of a demanding banking career and the sudden loss of her father unearthed a need for a creative escape.

Initially wanting to revive her talent for music, a chance finding of some beads led to a new found obsession for gemstones and jewellery design.

After spending the last few years teaching herself jewellery techniques and experimenting with various materials, Sonal decided to leave her career with Goldman Sachs in August 2008 to focus on her first 3 collections - Malika, Mangalya and Tribal Decadence

The collections are deeply inspired by Sonal's Asian background, with designs taking their names and influences from a culture seeped in history, mythology, traditions and exquisite craftsmanship.

Driven by a passion to translate her unique take on these influences into modern and wearable works of art, Sonal has designed 3 vibrant collections which capture the essence of her heritage, whilst standing out as prominent design-led statement pieces.

Each piece is designed and handmade by Sonal using gemstones, Fairtrade Gold Vermeil & Silver or 18 kt Gold, making each piece truly unique and individual.

A member of the British Jewellers Association, Sonal will be showcasing her new designs as part of the BJA KickStart Initiative at International Jewellery London, stand K980E.
